I was hiking around rural Australia for the day at around dusk a few weeks back, there was no one around for miles. There were a few farms here and there but not much livestock at all, it's a fairly desolate area. As I'm walking along I see this black horse in the distance just kind of observing me. I didn't think much of it at the time, but as I continued I kept seeing this fucking horse everywhere. It was never close enough to me that I felt a sense of danger but it was extremely unsettling. At this point I've been walking for several kilometres and this horse is really freaking me out. It never acted aggressively but it just... watched me. I got the fuck out of there soon after, but here's a photo of one of the instances. It popped up over a little hill right in front of me and I basically ran in the opposite direction for a couple hundred meters.
