>>1723501Nice score btw. My plums come up as a thicket if I don't keep that area well tended. If you train these new shoots you can have oodles of bow, arrow, and basket making material. Just let a thicket grow densely and trim off limbs so they keep growing taller and straight. A 10'x10' area thicket can grow a lot of material.
Plum wood splits and checks like mad, so you need to boil the bow logs in water for about 1 hour pure inch of thickness then wax the ends and oil the bark then put into shaded dry storage for 1 year per inch of thickness to let them season without splitting (hopefully.) Plum wood can make the most amazing ultra lightweight self bows.
