I just found out a week ago that here in Arizona we've got this urban fishing program where around 20 urban lakes are stocked weekly with good sized rainbow trout or channel catfish or sunfish depending on the season, and one of the lakes is just two minutes from my house. Both my grandfathers were fishermen and taught me the basics when I was young, but I hadn't fished in around 10 years. Three days ago I went out and got two poles, reals and tackle, and yesterday morning and this morning I went out and had a blast fishing. Yesterday I got one four pound channel and an eight inch rainbow, and this morning I pulled out four channels (the daily limit), and a 10 inch rainbow. Two of the cats were around 1.5 pounds and two of them were larger around the 4 pound range.
There is also an eagle that's been at the lake both mornings. Yesterday it caught a fish and flew right over my head with it in its talons. This morning it was out around the lake as well but I didn't see it get a catch.
I guess in a fishing general thread, you guys will probably have the fishing in your area figured out, but if you're new to fishing and live in the city, definitely see if your state has an urban fishing program.
