In Australia every so often, pretty much every year, a fire-fighter gets caught lighting fires but we hush it up and it only makes the local news, no state or national mention. So we give our paid fire-fighters a standard call out fee which used to be 200 dollars for just turning up to the fire, so they light little grass fires and get there in time to stop it.
Last years bush fires brought out all the fire bugs. Once the fires start people use that as cover. My town was completely surrounded in fires which had been lit by fire bugs. It got pretty bad we had an aboriginal girl charged and put in prison for lighting 50 fires. We had a commercial drug supplier attempting to protect his cannabis crop from the fire so he started back burning which then formed the largest fire in the state, we had a farmer with a grudge who started a fire to burn out his neighbours... We do our best to keep this information out of the international media, it makes us look bad.
