I learned not to underestimate the... timidness, I suppose, of some women when I was teaching a work friend and his wife to fish, throwing a typical bass set up. When she got a particularly aggressive bite, she let it just take the rod out of her hand and I had to go swimming for it, then she was too upset to continue fishing and we had to pack it up. Looking back I could have avoided this by setting her up for panfishing, probably.
