>>2083236>Rusts easier>less hard>wooden handleYou are quite wrong, on all counts;D2 is semi-stainless where 1095 will rust if you look at it funny, D2 is generally harder around 59-61 HRC because at that hardness carbon steels like 1095 become brittle and are generally kept in the 55-58 HRC range and wooden handles while aesthetically pleasing take a performance hit on resistance to damage, moisture, and is significantly less grippy than micarta, and if grip is your primary concern when wet/cold rubberized handles may be something you should consider.
The only "real" advantage to 1095 and similar carbon steels is that they are easier to resharpen in the field because they ARE softer than D2 and generally cheaper to buy.
