From the prior image, Dado, Rabbet, and Lap joints are easy to learn how to use and quite useful. Mortise and tenon joints are fantastic, but hard to pull off without a chisel.
They can all be used in connection with a properly (eg, not insanely over-sized) auger to make all manner of furniture, from pot stands to bed frames and couches.
This image is more useful for home construction, and your over-sized auger will definitely come in handy here. The saddle notch is the easiest to pull off, but the full dovetail, when executed properly, can result in much tighter joins.
