depends on the state of weeds in the waters. i live on a 400 acre cypress pond and mostly fish with 10 inch culprit worms, hook embedded. same for zoom trick worms.
I usually add a heavy weight lead sinker to increase casting distance and drop since i usually fish 14 lb line. i gave up on lesser weight lines probably 15 years or so ago. i want to crank a fish right out of the water, not pussy foot around for 5 minutes hoping my line doesn't break.
