>>2639257I loved hot tents in the army. They were a bitch to carry but being able to dry your equipment and sleep in a warm place really makes your days better. I wouldn't recommend using a hot tent alone though, you'd want to have someone awake at all times watching and feeding the fire. That also functions as a safety measure, if something (that is not supposed to) starts burning, the firewatch can then do the required safety measures.
During army we had an about 10 person tent and it weighed 10 kilograms, the wood stove weighed about 6-7 kilograms. And we lugged those with us while we were moving on foot. Every curse word was worth it when you got to go to sleep in to the warm tent though.
Got to remember that our tents and wood stoves were from the 1960s, more modern systems will be lighter in weight.
