>>2081366Another way to get seedlings in to the system is to take them out of soil, clean off the roots, and suspend them in the bucket. I suspend them with cut up slices of a pool noodle. I can get a more detailed pick of what this looks like tomorrow if anyone needs it. For me, the seedlings started in soil end up looking more robust and healthier after having grown under my light setup. The main problem with taking a plant from soil is introducing contaminants to the solution. If using a circulating hydroponic system, this can break your pump, but with Kratky this is not an issue. At worst, leaving too much organic matter can cause some of the roots to die, but a good washing does the trick for me.
Pic related is 3 cucumbers growing in a 27 gallon tub. The tub is still at least 2/3rds full and the plants are producing a lot of cucumbers. All 3 plants were started in soil, washed, and held in place with pool noodle slices.
