Is 4 pounds really too heavy for a tent? I made a post about picking up pick related on Reddit.

i'm not thru hiking, I just want to do some 3 day hikes and go fishing.
id like to pick up an ultralight backpack so that if i ever get into it I already have one out of the way. but if an ultralight backpack cant carry non ultralight gear, I may have to go with something else.
my budget is
200$ tent
200$ sleeping bag/pad
300$ backpack
and i'm only doing 3 seasons in California, mostly in the national parks.
Is this budget not enough for good gear
