These salt flats near El Paso used to be public land that was shared on a use as needed basis by first the Indians, and then the Spanish as well. That ended when a white person came and proclaimed they were his, started charging a fee (because the government backed him), and ruined it for everyone. This kind of bullshit is why Texas has barely any public land. But as a white person, I’m supposed to be mad at Mexicans because I see too many brown faces at Wal-Mart?
