I was using an Okuma NS 20, and It's pretty new so I haven't taken the bail trip off yet.

the pollock hit the bucktail from MTB.
About the bail trick, I usually take apart my spinning reels with bails and take the plastic trip out, which means I have to manually close it everytime, which should be the case anyways.
awesome tip though I will try it if I'm ever using an reel without the trip removed
