>>1033846>>1033889I have a 4WD with 10-ply tires, but rarely use it. Often you drive a hundred of miles on the pavement, but only need the high ground clearance for the last couple miles. That's why I drive pic related for most /out/ings. It gets more than twice the gas mileage compared to the 4WD, and is a lot quieter for the long part of the drive. I have driven it on very questionable roads, very carefully, and haven't had a problem yet. The trick is knowing exactly the width of your vehicle and where the tires are going to within an inch. When the road gets really tough, pull the mountain bike off the back and keep going.
