You would be better of getting a flat panel that only shines downwards, very bright (3000+ lm) and higher color temperature (4000k-6500k)
If you can't get something like this for cheap you can try to buy bright LEDs normally used for industrial and large hallways, those can be pretty cheap for high light output, just make sure it has low light angles and only shines downwards.
