Nasopharyngeal airways.
This tubular device is used to provide an open airway to a patient whos airway is either damaged or blocked in a way which normal clearing techniques cannot open the airway.
If chinlift, sweep and clear, or other methods are not opening the patients airway the nasopharyngeal tube is inserted through the patients nostril to get into the airway.
Youre going to need to cut this thing to size. Too long and it will choke the patient, too short and it wont breech the airway.
Simply place the end of the tube to the side of the nostril then cut the tube where the tube makes contact behind the jaw. This takes a little guestimating and alot of practice before i suggest using one. Also make sure to cut the tube at an angle to help it slide through the nasal passage.
You'll probably never need one of these, but like the C.A.T. the risk of needing one may be slim, but the cost of NOT having one is terrible.
Can't quote a price on this one since I've never seen one outside my issued IFAK kit.
