I think by the time you have an outboard on, they’re approaching $20k NZD.
I use one very similar to first pic quite often. Honestly doesn’t need to be any bigger for a couple of adults and 2-3 kids.
Even if everyone sits on one side right it still stays almost perfectly level.
When they bought it we took it out in calm water to see what it would take to swamp. We just couldn’t do it. (2 whitewater and 1 sea kayak/fishing charter guide). The only way we could have maybe got it over would have been with a line across the beam and leaning off the side like you’d right a raft.
We’re confident enough with it that we’ll take our kids 4-10 a few km offshore for fish. Provided the forecast is good of course, don’t want it getting too rough for their sake - but even if it does chop up, we’re going to get home ok.
It’s got a 15hp and a 3hp reserve and oars.
