hey anons, i just discovered this board/thread so i't kinda late. Anyway, i'd like to contribute.
in spring, like throughout april/early may, i forage for wild hop shoots (also known in Italy as "bruscandoli"). not only they taste great with eggs or in a risotto, it's also fun to gather them as they climb on plants and grow in either thick hedges or where ther's a bunch of dead and dry plants or yet along rivers (watch out, the riverbank may give under your weight!)
I don't think they are much known outside of notheastern italy, a real shame. Anyone here ever heard of them/seen them? Picrel
