The land was never listed for sale - had we known we would have bought it. What happened was the owner of the ~200 acres was delinquent in their taxes, the town allowed the richies to settle the tax debt and take ownership of the land. They even setup a phony land trust called "(something) Orchards" to get everything fast-tracked through the state. They're from a different state, they conned their way into town and circumvented normal processes to seize the land, one of their chain stores in town was dilapidated so they had it refurbished and then donated the 2nd parking lot to the town for a war memorial, which got their permits fast tracked, and they never intended or will setup a fucking orchard, it was intended to make them look like good guys keeping green space green. then a 20k sqft mcmansion goes up, they closed all the trails that cut through the forest, and put surveillance up everywhere. it's fucking lame and fuck them.
