Trail Worker/prospective firefighter here.
Whites Boots. All leather constructed loggers. Only boots I'll ever need, custom made and completely rebuildable. Known to last up to 10 years before needing a rebuild. Smokejumpers are about $450, but it's worth every penny. These, or Nicks are the only boots you'll ever see any wildland firefighter worth their salt wearing.
Hiking with a logger heel can take some getting used to, but its fine once you adapt. The break in period on these is about 80 hours though. 80 terrible, painful hours. Once they're broken in they are the most comfy boots you'll ever wear.
I also highly recommend the Asolos from
>>378643 if you're looking for something a little less hardcore. I wore mine out in only one trail season, but that's 7 months of constant 5-10 mile a day usage. Not bad for consumer hiking boots.
Thread necro because I fuckin love boots.
