In my encounters with them, I'd say probably over 75% just kill whatever they see in the water, being bass, carp, pike, salmon, muskie, or catfish, and then toss them onto the floor of the boat, shoot at more things until like 4am, and then return to the boatlaunch, take an instagram photo, and to toss all the fish onto the ground and drive home.
I'm hesitant to advocate a full ban on the activity, because in some lakes Carp need some method of population control as anglers rarely target them, but the wanton waste of the bowfishing community as a whole, and there general inability to identify, or general disregard to identifying fish before shooting them kind of puts a bad taste in my mouth.
