It does pretty much require to raise the plant single-stemmed, but I'm doing that anyway. Letting the side shoots will give more yield per plant, but removing the suckers gives better yield/area. And here in cool/rainy summer climate where they're highly susceptible to blight, and with limited rain-covered space, the latter is higher priority
