Strict Popup Blocker doesn't seem to be blocking anything. I'm using Firefox 60.0.1 64-bit on Windows 7 Home Premium (classic theme).
Top screenshot is 1 thread open with all the defences on. Bottom pic is in Sandboxie with all defences down and every single thread in the entire archive open and fully loaded in Firefox. I'm thinking you are having a problem with your setup since.

Look up your first and last frost dates, if any. That will tell you how long your growing season is. Then it is just a matter of growing things you like and researching their individual needs.
