Which was a bad idea, by the way. I figured since it's 5.4 it doesn't matter, so I did a very poor job of explaining how the system works to my parents. I basically just told them that they're safe at all times and climb on. Then my mom didn't understand what would happen if she fell or if I fell and was scared the whole time. If you're taking someone new out climbing be sure to explain how the system works and exactly what happens when something goes wrong.
We've been climbing since and they feel much better about it.
