I actually tied these with intent of slow rolling them through the first trough on a sinking line for whiting, sea mullet (colloquialisms of southern and northern kingfish) pompano, spot, and anything else that lives in the first trough

spend whatever you've got left on a small selection of floats, hooks, weights, and a few lures. if you want to go real basic, skip the lures, and pare down to small to medium hooks, a variety of small to medium floats and splitshot, and a pole. note that a rod and a pole, though often used intercahgably, are not the same thing. the distinction is: a rod has eye guides, and a reel seat, where as a pole is designed to be used with only a line, no reel.
