American Forester Here,
Germany has Active Forestry Operations for their forests, I mean they created the Forestry Profession as we know it. That is a basic forest thinning operation with Brush Piles. Basically they are trying to encourage growth in those young trees by thinning branches that woyod have self-pruned and by releasing them from competition with their neighbors. This helps, encourage tree growth as well as removing the lower branchs that would act as ladder fuels for a forest fire that would allow a simple ground fire to turn into a forest destroying crown fire.
The colors are a forester going aeound and marking trees to be treated, the difference in color is the treatment type (idk which is which because I dont have the color code, it varies by agency/company)
Enjoy!
