It would be more like something one would use to lazily restore very dead dirt.
Still the soil is nice and healthy, so wrestling control back from the weeds and suppressing them is probably the lesser of prices to pay.
Pic related was my seeding method and it survived. Just didn't thrive because of the weeds. And as you can see it's litteraly scrap the dirt with a a tool and drop some seeds in, drop some cut plant matter on top.
I think all I needed to do was just be more thorough, scrape the very top half inch of soil, plant seeds evenly everywhere. Have a thic mass of plants grow and cover everything out.
It wont get rid of the ground elder, but it should suppress it where it's not thriving by itself.
By next year the suppression would have been even better likely.
Really all of this is a typical learning lesson of "how you should have done it in hindsight"
