They can dive right through a normal sock and crawl up pant legs. Hippies can be turned away by wearing any red hat that even remotely looks like a MAGA hat. For snakes and briars you'll need some thick protection. Like snake boots and heavyweight 15oz or heavier denim jeans/leather chaps. Beggar's lice sticks to things that is fuzzy, so most slick/smooth garments are better at staying clean. The best advice is to know what to look for and stay away from them.
