When I was a child, my aunt had a rosebush growing up a pole from the driveway on to her porch. A few years ago, her family came home from vacation to find the next door neighbors had uprooted and destroyed it.
Now those neighbors have moved out, and she's asked me to plant a new rosebush (on her side of the property this time, instead of on the dividing line) before new people purchase the house and move in.
The rose needs to be red, scent is optional. It needs to be able to grow straight up - not a climbing rose, the old rose bush didn't wind it's way around anything, it just grew upwards. It didn't need any maintenance other then an occasional clipping.
The porch is about 7 and a half feet off the ground.
Any recommendations?
