>>880396>Instead, what happens is people buy tons of lures for the same exact use because they are a consumerist. Most people simply do not know how to fish properly and must run though many baits and techniques and just happen to get a random lucky strike.I would agree if you aren't fishing water that is pressured. But in heavily fished water changing the profile of your lure can mean the difference between catching fish or not. I could see a fish up shallow and I tried 3 or 4 various creature baits, worked them exactly the same way, and he hit the most obscure one I had.
I'm not saying you need to buy one of every lure and you can definitely get by with just a few different kinds. And I probably would've gone on and caught another fish somewhere else without changing lures, but it's nice to have different ones the fish don't see that often. Basically what I'm saying is having all these lures isn't necessary to catch fish in general, but it can be helpful to catch those fish that have lock jaw.
And like I've said before I mostly buy new lures cause they're neat and I like to collect them.
>>880397I don't think anyone would say they're a necessity. I'm sure any fish would rather hit live bait than a lure.
