>>1333680The handle is too short, that much is true. I used the old one because even though it's probably very old, the wood felt very sturdy and hard as a rock. It was badly damaged beneath the collar however so I drilled the head out and rehung the axe reshaping the damaged part, making it the part that goes inside the axe head. Worked surprisingly well minus the shortness of the shaft. I've split wood with it afterwards and it is a monster. The head alone weights ~1,4 kilos, compensating for the shortness of the shaft. I'm happy with it as it is now.
