I did conscription back in 2006 and I remember the break-in period in the first couple weeks being a little rough (I was not used to wearing such kind of shoes before and neither to marching/much hiking in general before), heels got a bit irritated but no blisters let alone open wounds. Then they actually became super comfy.
Wore the shit out of them afterwards, granted not daily, but a lot around the garden, walking the doggos etc. Lasted about 10 more years that way before the inner leather got totally fucked up
