Also, while fire WILL kill bacteria, parasites and viruses, anything that lives, it will not filter big particles, heavy metals, and chemical products.
You can't boil brown mud water, drink it, and be certain that it'll be fine.
In some cases, a filter/purifier is better.
Both is the best, of course.
