I'm wanting to try something new with potatoes. I have a problem with my soil that causes disease in any potato I plant. At best I will get a few quarter sizes good one and maybe a handful of larger ones in total. The rest rot in the ground or simply don't grow.
What if I grow them in newspaper? Would it work? I can make paper pulp from soy ink newspaper I used it for litter for my pets. I cna make the same pulp to plant tomato in..it would be much like dirt. I would just water with fertilizer/sterilized compost tea...yay/nay? I know it would take a lot of newspaper but I have access to stacks and stacks of it.
I would be filling those potato growing bags with it. It should have decent aeration but I don't know about drainage...?
