The voyager has basically plastic scales are considerably thicker than the recon and unless you opt for the Thompson Voyager are the aus10a steel. I think the voyager are a bit lighter, but the blade itself is less beefy. The price difference could be double for the recon, but I feel its a far better package considering both upgrades. I'd get another recon before I got a voyager. A recon tanto or an espada if I wanted a clip point. The voyagers have that vaquero blade which is claimed is a better self defense blade.
