Think about Leatherman. You’re paying $90 for a Wave, but a good chunk of that is going to the retailer, a good chunk of that is going to the warranty and service department and 25 year coverage, plus you have logistics and some marketing and whatever sponsorships they do. If they cut out the warranty and retailers and sold it direct from the factory as the same US made tool with no name backing behind it, maybe you could get it for half the price but then you have no brand recognition or faith behind the product.
Dude might be able to sell the tool for $60 at Dicks if he gets it off the ground, $30 if he gets Chinese suppliers and they start moving it in bulk, $15 if it were straight Chinesium coming from Aliexpress.
