>>532950>trainingAbsolutely. Don't pack more than you know how to use. Improvisation is big too; I've used a motorcycle tube as a sling before (collarbone break).
But yes, take a fucking class. Cheap, no reason not to have a FA/CPR/AED cert. WFR/EMT's even better (albeit more expensive).
>>532948>Sterile gauze>band-aids for smaller boo-boos>neosporinYes. This gets the most use by far in my kit.
>>532951>benadryl - for the itchies>tweezers - for ticks or splinters/thornsYes.
>>532977>Coflexaka "Vetwrap", yes, awesome stuff.
Add some athletic tape to the list too. Support joints if you, say, break an ankle at a race... or use it to hold gauze in place while you're wrapping with vetwrap. I can think of a lot of uses for it.
I carry a pair of trauma shears. About $10 at the local farm/ranch supply store (same place I get the vetwrap from).
Rubber gloves (in film can) if shit gets messy.
Toilet paper.
In my bag of snacks I always carry something sugary - usually fruit snacks. Just in case someone in the group (I ride with a lot of different people doing avalanche education) is diabetic and needs sugar.
I bag damn near everything in my pack to keep it together and dry. Easier to find shit too.
