I have three setups that let me tailor to what I'm doing.
I've got a 15 pound base weight pack for 1-3 night stays innawoods, good for 3 seasons and up to a moderate rain. Frameless assault pack, poncho for rain/shelter, Alps engineering 35 degree clearwater sleeping bag, Klymit Inertia X-Frame Recon sleeping pad (10 oz), plus other small essentials adding up to 15 pounds. For food I usually bring meals that don't require heating or MREs.
30 lb base weight ruck for 2-7 nights, 4 season, any weather. REI Crestrail 70, Big Agnes Lynx Pass One tent, either the Alps sleeping bad or military sleep system (in the market for a 0 degree bag, but saving money at the moment), Inertia X-frame, MSR wisperlite int. with GSI pinnacle soloist, plus small essentials. Backpacking meals and energy bars for food mainly.
50-70 pound ruck for however long the military deems fit in whatever conditions with whatever they want packed. I usually substitute in my military friendly civilian gear like the Inertia X-Frame to try and save weight. A lot of weight in the ruck, sleep system, rifle, ammo, explosives, and MREs. Pic Related.
