>>1334454I carry an AR-7 by Henry. The whole thing breaks down neatly into the stock and when it's closed up it's water tight. Yeah, it's only a .22 so some things won't even be phased by it, but honestly all the places I go backpacking, it's more of an "oh shit, I somehow got lost and my rations have run out" squirreling rifle for me. I've only ever had to use it once on a fairly aggressive copperhead and I was very glad to have it that day.
Depending on where you go, I'd say a decent revolver is probably your best bet.
