I know there's some kind of supposed endangered rattler or something infesting a different lake that's near the one I was at. They had put in a bike trail (paved railroad tracks actually) and some people flipped their shit about the poor endangered rattle snake.
No source, might have been bs. I will say this though, I've hiked around said lake a couple times and there are literally snakes every 10'. The vast majority sit in the water and stare up at you. It's insane.
