Ferrocerium is really easy to use, it makes a big shower of long lasting sparks that will ignite basically anything dry and flammable with enough surface area to catch, that's what most of the survival flint tools are. Often they come with a magnesium block you can take some shavings off to help get things going, they light on any contact with a spark and burn like hell so you can get pretty much anything to start burning. Good to have around and know how to use as a backup because it's basically infallible assuming you've got shit that will burn and something to scrape/strike.
Actual flint takes some amount of skill and prep to use, you usually get only a couple of decent sparks and need a good fluffy tinder that will form an ember. Not exactly difficult, especially in normal conditions, but aside from history buff stuff there's no real reason to use it. Fun to try though.
