Noob pumpkin farmer here.
Just a question of something on my mind that I hope somebody will be able to put at ease (or unease). So generally speaking, in most facets of my life, I'm against mass production cheap commercial garbage insofar as what goes into my body. This would I guess in a way naturally translate to growing things as well.
When I planted the pumpkin seeds, I did so in Miracle-Gro Potting Soil, principally because I was in a rush and grabbed the first thing that looked good at Walmart. Obviously this is an example of the commercial stuff I generally hold skepticism towards. However, the stuff seems to be working phenomenally, as you may have observed with my weekly updates (another update tomorrow), but I just have a feeling of unease that, while the stuff may be working great now, I may be permanently damaging the dirt and soil around where I placed the potting soil, or that along with the nutrients being provided for the plants, other possibly unfavorable chemicals may also be included as well which will naturally transfer over to the fruit.
Am I just being totally irrational here, or is there real, legitimate concern to be skeptical or wary of mass commercial soil/fertilizer like Miracle-Gro?
Pic (maybe not?) unrelated.
