>>441886>Worked well so farIt caused a Civil War that the Southern United States still hasn't fully recovered from. Initially under the Articles of Confederation your States had a great deal of autonomy, it was replaced by the Constitution that gave the Federal government more power, and took away State's rights. Many States were afraid of the shift in power and demanded a Bill of Rights be drafted before they would ratify it. Later, several decisions by the Supreme Court, especially the early and most notable ones from Justice Marshall, solidified the Federal government's power and stripped the State's of even more rights. This led directly to Southern cessation. The impacts of the war, the freedom of a millions strong subclass citizenry, and the failures of Reconstruction, continue to play a huge role in the South which is partially why it scores so poorly on virtually every metric possible.
So, no, it's not working out very well so far.
