The flames on that won't be any less visible than from a gas or liquid fuel stove. They burn orange from what I remember so they will arguably be more visible although quieter.

Such is life using liquid fuel stoves mate. Basically you HAVE to pre-heat because if you don't the first bit of fuel in the stove won't vaporize and you'll just get big dirty yellow flame that will just cover your cooking gear in soot and not be very hot.

You should buy a Primus or an MSR by the way. I had a ching chong potatoe version and it was so shitty - My MSR however is fucking GOAT.

Add some pepper and Paprika
Some noodles
Maybe some cashew nuts

You can even put that shit in a wrap so it's easier to eat. I've made this on the first night or two of multiple day hikes and it's the shit. Completely possible on a camp stove and as long as you know how to pack and maybe even pre-prepare some items if you're feeling lazy you'll be good to go.

And don't put Scotland on a pedestal as far as camping goes, anybody can do it! I hope it all works out for you Anon!
