I was /out/ yesterday on an icy mountain and near the summit I stopped and chatted with a woman who was wearing those... one fell off her boot on the trail so she was trying to bareboot it up a pretty icy snow covered slope. On my way down I saw her microspike laying in the snow about two miles down the trail. I bet she had a pretty scary walk down.
