Go a half size to a size up and you wont suffer nearly as much. Also when you tie them do it tight the first time, make sure you have good laces, and use a good knot.
I make sure to buy boots with hooks at the top and not holes. If you do a good knot and have solid laces you only have to tie them once and then you can just flip them criss-cross on and off the hooks
