>>1188449I do better with poppers (one of the few topwaters I have actually landed bads on) but I think that depends on the conditions too. I like poppers around dawn or dusk when the wind calms down and there’s just a slight ripple on the surface of the water.
Some people swear by buzzbaits and I haven’t really done shit with them. Last couple times I have tried using them, I had snakeheads and gar chomping at them and missing and snakeheads never hit the bait a second time. Only other topwater I have luck with are soft baits like Zoom Horny Toads rigged with an EWG worm hook and no weight and run it just fast enough to keep it on top of the water.
