If I remember correctly, it originally was used by Nick Fuentes to refer to white supremacist gangs like the aryan brotherhood that were basically the same thing as normal gangs, but palette swapped, and was short for wigger nationalist. Eventually, it became a derogatory term for all white nationalists.
