I am of the opinion that parking at a campground and sleeping there is not, and will never be, "real camping". You must sleep in the wilderness for it to count. Once you have a night or two under your belt, your confidence grows and you begin spotting for places you could concievably tuck a tent away. You'd be amazed at the places you can camp, even near civilization, that people just don't look at. Around here, pick any road then walk off the side a hundred yards, and you're good.
