Bring something against mosquitos and something against bears, the kola pininsula has a very high bear population. even bear spray will do better than nothing.
We went with a local friend of ours so he avoided the military zones pretty smooth although there was heavy shooting on the other side of the mountain we were behing, so be observant.
As for locations the road from Murmansk to Teriberka has some nice spots and roads that goes for miles into the forrest and mountains.
